When we question whether someone is a person, it is because we want to kill him. We do this with our enemies in wartime, or with anyone we would like to enslave or exploit. Before we can feel comfortable treating others this way, we have to expel them from the human community.

Sometimes people need to be human before you can hate them enough to kill them or treat them badly.
I've enjoyed Frederica since being introduced to her writings several years ago. I've read several of her books and enjoy her movie reviews. One of my favorite books by her is The Illuminated Heart.
