I found this delightful thing on Disputations.

The Lepers' Mass

The Penitential Rite
As Jesus ... was entering a village, ten lepers met him.
They stood at a distance from him and raised their voices,
saying, "Jesus, Master! Have pity on us!"

Liturgy of the Word
And when he saw them, he said,
"Go show yourselves to the priests."

Liturgy of the Eucharist
And one of them, realizing he had been healed, returned,
glorifying God in a loud voice; and he fell at the feet of
Jesus and thanked him.

Ite, missa est.
Then he said to him, "Stand up and go;
your faith has saved you."

I'll never think about the Ite the same way again.

I always thought the rest of Mass after Commmunion was a little abrupt. Or smacked a little of the team roaring out through the tunnel onto the field.

But if I hear Jesus say "Go. Your faith has saved you," I feel a better form of propulsion out into the world.

This is the other Rosalind (commentor on Sancta Sanctis). Nice to know another Catholic with that name! Which saint do you consider to be your name-day saint?

Hi, Other Rosalind. Glad to have you drop by. I've never thought of myself as having a name day saint - St. Rose of Lima just wasn't my style. I sure have enjoyed having the name, though.

Having just celebrated my name day, I think having a patron (or "name") saint is a very pleasant thing, like having a picture of your hero stuck in the side of your mirror.

I was expressly named after my saint, but those of you who weren't could pray about your middle name or your confirmation name, or just ask God to show you who your saint is. Then read the lives of the saints, or a book of prayers composed by saints, and see who leaps into your arms.

It's really striking me as important as I tyhpe this that we think hard about having two specific companions on our earthly journey: our guardian angel and our patron saint.

rosalind - rosa linda - beautiful rose
I would suggest the feast of our lady of the rosary, october 7, as a potential name day.

It's other Other Rosalind again...
I like St Rosa for being Dominican, but I don't think she's my patron - I'm not keen on imitating her actions.
I DO like the sound of Our Lady of the Rosary. It seems so obvious, but I'd never have thought of it. Thank you!
