Dick Van Dyke surprised me this morning

I didn't think it was possible, but I just watched a Dick Van Dyke Show episode I have never seen before! It's episode #155 titled "You Ought to Be in Pictures" - Rob is cast opposite a gorgeous Italian actress in a low-budget film and turns out to be the screen's worst lover. The jokes about a largely unclothed picture of the Italian actress were refreshingly unvulgar (the cast managed to let us know how va-va-VOOM the picture was without going for the now-automatic reference to her "two greatest assets").

Now if I could just find an unread Lord Peter Wimsey novel by Dorothy Sayers. I can't even imagine the ceremony I would have to create before I finally opened the book and began to read...

What treasure do you wish you could stumble across?

How about the rest of the Firefly season episodes that got cancelled (discovered in a vault somewhere)?

Though, truth to tell I could go for another Lord Peter mystery too.

Just off the top of my head, I'd love to find a Manning Coles book from World War II that I haven't read yet (fat chance), or another book by Joseph C. Lincoln (I've got quite a few to go - he was prolific). Especially Lincoln.

And "Hear! Hear!" on the Lord Peter books. Over on my blog I've asked people to make recommendations for other books that people who like the Lord Peter books might like.

I found your post through Suitable for Mixed company and thought it a delightful idea. I wish I could find a new Georgette Heyer, a new Dorothy Sayers, a new Jane Austen, a new Clark Gable movie, a new Barbara Tuchman . . . oh, so many things.

I told a friend - male, mid-50s - about this post and asked him what treasure he'd like to stumble across. Without a moment's hesitation (and with a big grin) he said "another episode of Zorro."

I'd like a sequel to In This House of Brede. Plus a DVD of all the episodes of Homefront, a memorable but unremembered TV series about a family during the period following WWII.
